What's Going On With Borderlands 3's Release?

So what's going on with Borderlands 3 release? While I'm at it, what's going on with the Borderlands GOTY Remastered release as well? I think it's been well documented that Borderlands 3 will be a timed exclusive for the new and recently hated Epic Games Store… kinda. What do I mean? Well, it's exclusive digitally. Which is… really weird, it's honestly something I, personally, have never seen before.

Borderlands 3 officially launches September 13th, 2019. The only way to play the game digitally on that date is through the Epic Games Store. Any other digital game market, Steam, PlayStation Store, Xbox Marketplace, will not have Borderlands 3 for sale until APRIL 2020. 6 months is a good chunk of time and something Epic Games believes will bring more people to their digital store, but I believe it will majorly fragment the Borderlands 3 player base and possibly hurt Borderlands 3’s sales. Although I am sure the amount of money Epic shelled out to 2K, publisher of Borderlands 3, will more than make up for that loss.
Now you may have noticed I've been throwing the word digital around and that's because the physical release of Borderlands 3 has none to do with the digital exclusivity. Borderlands 3 will release on September 13th, 2019 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in the form of a physical disc release. I think 2K knew extending the Epic Games exclusivity to the point where it could only be played digitally AND on PC, would be too far and the consequences would outweigh their payday. At least console players won't have to wait six months to play Gearbox's next looter shooter.

Lastly, what about the Borderlands Remaster that released on April 3rd, 2019? Well before the release I was all types of confused and I'm sure many fans were as well. It seems 2K is really thirsty for exclusivity deals because the only way to get a physical copy of Borderlands Remastered for console was through GameStop or the Gearbox store. On top of this there was nowhere, except the Gearbox store, to pre-order the game. Not through GameStop, the PlayStation Store, or the Xbox Marketplace. Any information on how to get the game, ahead if it's April 3rd release was very hush-hush.
Right now you can snag Borderlands GOTY for PS4 or Xbox One from GameStop, Gearbox's official website, PlayStation Store, or the Xbox Marketplace. For PC players it's a free update. I've been playing the remastered title and have been having a good time. It looks and runs much better… For us who played the original on PS3 and Xbox 360 back in 2009.
What will the Epic Games Store snag up next with it's net of exclusivity? Only time will tell!
Will you be getting Borderlands 3? If so, where from? Let me know down below!
