Enter The Gungeon has carved a special place in my gaming heart and remains one of my top 3 favorite rogue-lites of all time. The indie bullet-hell rogue-lite shooter has had a fantastic past 3 years with a few big updates and a very passionate community. I was just finishing up my freshman year in college when the game released and I discovered a gem, it's unreal. With that said, Dodge Roll, the developer behind Enter The Gungeon, has made it clear that their next update will be their last. This update celebrates Enter the Gungeon's three year anniversary.

Their final update was announced sometime in mid-2018 and was scheduled for the end of 2018. The expansion was also supposed to be a “paid-for” dlc. This concept was cut short and Dodge Roll stated they were ready to move on, so they would finish what they were working on and release it for free. 2018 comes to a close and nothing is released. What's going on? Flash forward to late March and Dodge Roll says they've ditched that plan as well. The small studio says they just kept adding things and decided that if this is their last update to Enter The Gungeon they might as well go out with a bang! The update remains free and releases on, get this, APRIL 5th.
The “Farewell to Arms” update will add:
2 new playable characters.
A new secret floor that holds a very special boss that is “based on all the references within Enter The Gungeon”.
A new rainbow chest mode.
A new NPC named bowler.
Dozens of new guns and items.
It's been stated that this update is around the same size as Enter the Gungeon's first free update “Supply Drop”. I would say “here's to hoping”, but I know Dodge Roll is a immensely talented studio and this final update will be a fantastic and fun finale for one of the highest quality rogue-lites to date. Farewell old friend.
