Borderlands 3: The Long Hype and A Recent Hint

It's the (2K) moment we've been waiting a long time for, but this time it seems too specific to be false! There hasn't been a mainline Borderlands title since 2012 with Borderlands 2’s release. Borderlands: The Presequel released in 2014 acting as a sort of spin-off game to satiate fans’ hunger for a new Borderlands title, but it clearly shows that fans have been wanting a mainline game and a new title that brings Borderlands to the next generation.
In the past, there have been tweets from the infamous Randy Pitchford, the CEO of Gearbox (who develops Borderlands). that some took as cryptic Borderlands 3 (BL3) hints and others took as random mumbo jumbo. Aside from those odd tweets, Randy had said in the past that Gearbox is “working on the thing I think most of you guys want us to be working on”. This obviously led to fans believing he referred to Borderlands 3 with that statement. That isn’t a very difficult conclusion to come to considering its Gearbox’s most popular title by far and a new mainline entry has not been released for the series in an extraordinary amount of time.
Year after year, among countless rumors, fans hoped that Borderlands 3 would be announced at “this year’s E3” or “this year’s PAX” and many other gaming conventions, but the announcement was never given. The latest event to become victim to this over-hype and hopefulness for a BL3 announcement has been the 2018 Game Awards where surprise-surprise: Borderlands 3 was not announced. Randy Pitchford has also said in the past that he is “worried about creating entertainment and will announce things when they are ready.”. Well, it seems that Randy, or should I say Gearbox, is just about ready to announce the next long-awaited entry in the Godfather of looter-shooter series. This photo was tweeted a few days ago:

PAX: East, an annually gaming convention, takes places from March 28th to March 31st, 2019 in Boston, Massachusetts. Randy has also tweeted recently that, in regards to this upcoming event, “We will disclose some upcoming titles on March 28th - that is the only thing you can count on.” Considering the message written in the photo is undoubtedly on a billboard within the Borderlands universe (considering the desert wasteland style environment and cel-shaded cartoony art style) this is a strong indicator that Borderlands 3 will be announced at this upcoming PAX convention!
As a huge fan of Borderlands myself, I am hyped about the next entry in the series, but I will not get over-hyped for this possible announcement as there is always a chance it will not happen. Hopefully, this isn't the case. It's difficult to tell how long fans can wait before their interest is lost, meaning its in Gearbox’s best interest to announce the game sooner than later. It may be fair to say fans have waited long enough.
What do you think of this possible Borderlands 3 announcement? Is it legitimately going to happen? Are you a fan of the Borderlands series? Let me know down below!
